I checked the start up list at:

This is what I found:
EZ-S.M.A.R.T. hard drive monitoring software from StorageSoft - appears to
be no longer supported

You can turn it off in MSCONFIG if you want.

I installed a new IBM 6Gig HD in my old Gateway 150MMX laptop. It is
running perfectly. Since the installation, I see an icon in the tray which
indicates that a hard drive utility called IBM EZ-S.M.A.R.T. is running.
Does anybody have any experience with, or comments about,
