First, it is not a normal floppy, it is a LS120 drive (can take upto 120M per disk on LS120 disk), the drive use IDE interface, so please check if you have set jumpers correct (master or slave). If the jumper is ok, check if there is any loss connected cable caused by adding the cd-rom. I think the LS120 drive is still good, just some mis-configuration or loss cable.
