It sounds like it might be an irq problem. You should check to see if
anything is conflicting with your printer's irq. It's normally irq7. It's
most likely not the cable since it is printing something. Check device
manager to see if there is a conflict. If there is, try using the hardware
troubleshooter. If the conflict is with a device that occupies a pci slot,
then move the card and the irq will be reassigned.
