Telephone line noise is a killer. I have Jatons in 4 remote locations
dialing to a PcAnywhere host also running a 56k Jaton. Two of my clients
are in rural areas and never get better than 21k while the two of us in town
get between 33 and 48k on a regular basis.

To my memory, the v.90 is a standard to make Flex more compatible to x2
which may not be your problem since your ISP is Flex already. In all
honesty, never being able to leave well-enough alone, I downloaded the v.90
upgrade from Jaton's site, too! <grin> They have great products and good
support, but sheesh... their website ftp is sloooow!

hope this helps,
