My brother's computer wacked out this weekend. We had a storm, but they unplugged the modem and the power, however, when they turned it back on, they get a blue screen OE error message and it shuts down when they try to get on the internet. This is a HP Pavollon, Celeron processor, 15 GB, 191 Ram. I did a reformat and reinstalled the software, O.S., etc. I was informed there were some errors during the reformat, but couldn't tell what they were. All seemed well, until I tried to use the modem and then I was blue screened again. I checked properties, and there is no x or ! by the modem, tested it, said it was working properly.

Do you think the modem is fried anyway? Should I try to uninstall it and reinstall? Should I reinstall the software again without reformating?

If the modem needs replaced, how do I replace it and with what kind?

THANKS for the HELP!

Dee Blann
