I am about to add a Western Digital 80gb HDD to my system and I am planning to install WinXP on the new drive. I am running Win 98SE on the present drive.

I would like to know how to plan the partitioning of the new drive and where to put the OS, programs, data etc. Is it an advantage to keep the programs separate from the OS and the data files, for instance ?

I am familiar with partitioning theory and using FDISK but it is the strategy of using such a big drive efficiently that I am unsure of.

I would most appreciate any advice.

TIA
