I usually find that if this problem appears, the DMA mode for CDROM drive is
not enabled, once you enable DMA (in Device manager), things will be fine.

Subject: [PCBUILD] CDROM - Digital v's Analog

I have recently installed a CDRW as a master device on secondary IDE, and
moved the CDROM from that position to a slave to my HD on primary IDE.

The CDROM can no longer play CD's in digital format. In Windows Media
player, if a select Digital, the playback is very poor (jumps and noise). It
can playback analog. This also occurs with a second media program.

Is this normal?
