Sorry to hear about your loss :-)

Did you test the CPU on another machine? It could be that as well, since
you will get no beeps if either the CPU, MB, or power supply are bad.

About the power down after 20mins, it may be that the power supply just
shuts off when it doesn't get anything from the CPU/MB after a while.

I think the best course of action is to try the CPU in another machine (if
possible) to determine if it could be that. If this is not possible, unless
you have a high end CPU ($$$), might as well just get a new MB/CPU combo.
