Go into setup on the computer that powers up with the strip, and change the
power setting to "remain off" when power is applied.

Some computers will power up when you plug network cable into the network
card, too, which can be fixed by removing the cable that runs from the NIC
to the motherboard.

I have 3 computers with Windows 98.  One of them turns on when I switch the
power strip on.  The other 2 only go on when I hit the switch on the system
unit.  How does one control this?
