I've had this experience too. What seemed to fix it in my case was to
detach then re-attach the floppy ribbon lead, at the floppy as well as at
the mobo end. Last time the thing balked on me, I threw in a new floppy.

From: "David Jonathan Justman" Subject: [PCBUILD] Win2000 Problem reading
floppies.

> The first time each session that I use Windows Explorer to read a floppy
everything goes fine. However, when I insert a new floppy and try to read
it, it gives me the data from my old one. F5 doesn't work either. Only
rebooting helps. How can I solve the problem?
