Mothberboard name, model and revision. Also the BIOS revision
you are running.  If you know all that, you could find the info on the
WEB site of the manufacturer (if it is there). Sometimes the WEB
sites are something less than helpful...

OR, you could buy the hard drive, and use the installation software
to check the BIOS. (I know a Maxtor will check this.)
IF it says a DDO (dynamic drive overlay software program) is needed,
you have the choice of using the one they provide or buying an Ultra-ATA
controller card that would extent capabilities of your computer by having
an on-board BIOS that would directly support the new drive.
They are around $50 (or less) depending if you need the newest model,
which is sometimes determined by the OS you are running, or plan to run.
