in his hand, which caused the display to distort and discolour. It's mostly
back to normal, except for a darker area in the bottom right corner. It is
noticeable and irritating. Other than restarting the computer and the
monitor, I don't have any ideas how to fix it. Is this maybe permanent
damage?

Marc,

If the monitor has a degaussing button, push it. Or look for a monitor or tv
repair shop in your area. They may have a degaussing coil that should take
care of the problem.
