Sorry I must've missed the original post on this issue. Sorry to be blunt, but
the Newcom modems are garbage. I had the displeasure of owning a 56k internal,
which would only "handshake" with one of my 3 services. My associate had the
same problems, both modems were returned. for  an extra 10 bucks, you can get
a quality inexpensive modem. Think of how much time you will be spending
online regretting your purchase!
