I'm not sure about the Presario 9642 but many Compaqs use the F10 key.  The
models I work with show a thick cursor in the top-right corner after the
memory count.  Press F10 at this time.  If you do not see this cursor then
your hard-disk may not have the non-dos partition containing the setup
access files.  If so you will need to access setup from a special floppy.
If you don't have the boot floppy you can download the "softpaq" for your
model from Compaq's web site.
