Gina,

PnP doesn't mean what it should (as far as modems). Many of the newer
modems will not install properly if other cards are already in the machine.

Delete all the modem drivers.
Physically remove the modem and ALL other boards except video.
Reboot the PC.
Take care of any issues that present themselves (probably nothing).
Shut down the PC and install the modem card ONLY.
Reboot and set up the modem.

Once you confirm the modem is set correctly and working, shut down the PC
and add back all the other boards.

ALTERNATIVELY......
Sometimes, a modem just doesn't like a particular slot in the motherboard,
so maybe just moving it to a different slot will "fix" it.

Hello all:

I am installing a 56K LT chipset Wisecom modem for a client. I am receiving
a port already open message on check in Modem Properties through control
panel in Win95. Also, in system properties, the window hangs on attempting
to view modem resources. IRQ settings show that modem is using Com3, IRQ
11, a shared resource. Modem literature says set for COM3 IRQ5 or COM4,
IRQ3, but I cant change settings. Modem is PNP and jumperless. I've tried
to install to separate, but identical, modems. Original modem died
following what may have been an electrical surge during a thunderstorm.
Any ideas? Thanks tons.
