I've never been successful in changing jumpers without re-installing the OS.
This also applies to changing disk geometry in the bios, i.e. the Cylinders,
Heads and Sectors.  Occasionally, 1 machine will see a drive one way, and
another will insist that the drive be added with a different count that still
makes up the right capacity.

Your best bet is to start over with a fresh install of the OS.
