I have no experience with the LS120 drives, but a possible problem would
be too many files in the root directory.  DOS has a limit on the number
of files in the root, 255, I believe.  I don't know what happens when
you try to put file number 256 on, but I guarantee it is an unhappy
event.

I have run into problems using DOS programs that access a directory with
a large number of files.
