Hi,

Just a reminder for those new with computers, that when figuring disk sizes,
one meg is usually rounded
to 1000 bytes when in actually it is 1024 bytes. Hence you can see a
difference in sizes based on
how and who is figuring and reporting it.

Also drives with NTFS partitioning will not show 8 meg that is held back in
reserve by the OS when setup.
So they seem to be mis sized when they really are not.

Thanks and have a Great Day!

========================
I have a home computer with XP Home SP2 and I have a question. I upgraded
the hard drive from a 30GB to a 120GB hard drive but I think I messed up the
partioning when I did it. The reason I think this is that in the disk
management section of the computer management program, my hard drive is
listed as 111.67 GB with 79 free in NTFS and there is a listing for 125 GB
with 120 free in FAT. Is this normal or is something wrong? When I did the
original format I accepted all the defaults. I think one was to keep the
same proportions of the old drive and extrapolate them up to the new one.
Do I need to fix this and if so, how do I do it?
