Flash device not detected in some computers

The facts:

USB device JF2GBV30 (USB memory 2GB by Transcend) is detected and working in some desktop USB 1computers, however the OS, WXP SP/2 reports the divice not recognized by Windows in USB 2 computers. 

The flash is defective for sure. Others exactly the same model work in both USB1 and USB 2 computers.

I wonder if there might be an available explanation for this behaviour.
