Liz,
When removing Roxio, did you turn off System Restore? If not it will just come back.

Thanks for your help.. I tried all three suggestions..
however it has not gotten rid of this pesky thing.

My original o.s. was Win 98.. however I now have XP Home edition.
Sometime back I removed the Roxio.. and this remnant remained..

<<<<Some time back I removed Roxio v4 from my computer>>>>

    Hi,

since roxio ver.4 is compatible upto windows 98 only i presume your opera=
    ting system is win 98.

    (1) go to add/remove programs and see if something called "adaptec UDF re=
ader" is listed. if so remove this and reboot and see.

    (2) if problem still persists do a "search" for adaptec and remove all fi=
    les/folders of this.

    (3) finally there is a utility called "roxizap.exe" which is supposed to =
remove all leftovers of the program . it is available for download at the=
     following URL.

      http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe<http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe>

NOTE: I HAVE NEVER USED THIS UTILITY AND CAN NOT VOUCH FOR IT'S EFFICACY.=

    HTH and good luck---Venkat
