In reference to the maximum distance of cabling.

Cat5 (twisted pair) cable or 10/100baseT standards allow cable runs between
devices of up to 100 meters.

(Cat6/7 specifications are being finalized and their are proposals for Cat8

Thinnet (co-axial) cable or 10base2 is up to 185 meters.

Thicknet (co-axial) cable or 10base5 is up to 500 meters.
