I am transferring my Westernd Digital 160g harddrive to the new pc I am building. This is a first, as I have said before.

How will I partition this drive without Windows XP installed? Once Windows XP installs, how can I partition the hard drive without wiping out my OS? I know the drive came with an install and partitioning utility (DATA LIFEGUARD), but I can't wrap my mind around this.

My uncle recommended obtaining a boot disc that would then allow me to run FDISK to accomplish this formatting and partitioning. Then, once Windows was installed, I could convert the entire drive to the NTFS from FAT32. Any insight?
