Could another possibility be that you may have used a 'copied' disk to load
windows? One that may have been burnt on an infected machine? If so, then I
would have thought you'll be back to square one everytime you reload. Of
course, this may not be the case at all.

I wonder if you in fact did get rid of it, when you reformatted and
reinstalled, but you were re-infected.  Is your computer on a network with
other computers?

 It seems I got the Blaster Worm virus.  How , when and where I got the
virus, I have no idea.  I wonder why I was not able to get rid of the virus
after reformatting and reinstalling XP.  I used Western Digital Data
Lifeguard program to reformat the HDD.
