I have a Zoom 28.8 modem that I am still using that refused to dial out
about four years ago following a thunderstorm in Florida. I had had it
about a year and figured it was worth fixing so I mailed it off to Zoom and
for $30 including return shipping, they fixed it and upgraded the ROMs. My
son had a 33.6 that would disconnect and refuse to re-dail afterwards. It
was under warranty and he sent it in and they sent him a new one a week
earlier than he was told he would get it back. I'm very happy with Zooms
and would buy them again.

As for fixing yours, I wonder if it is worth it considering the price of
56K modems compared to 33.6. You could spend the $30 to get your 33.6
fixed but thats close to half the price of a new Zoom 56K. Or you could
buy a new 33.6 for about what the repair cost would be on the old. So I
guess it would depend on the age of the 33.6, the cost in your area for the
two choices above and the availability of 56K service in your area.
