Winston,

I am rather unclear as to why the price of an internal modem would be any
more than an external....you cautioned against purchasing an internal.
Around here we do not have cable modem installers....we receive a kit in the
mail with instructions and do it ourselves.....so far it has apparently
worked out fine.....particularly with Cable Modems which(once you have your
Network Settings done) require virtually nothing......they just
"work"......much easier config than a dial up connection.

I like the sound of your cable setup out there....fiber all the way and no
proxy....
