Try using another CD drive. I have had trouble where a disk would not read
in certain drives but would be ok in others. Also, keep in mind that
recordable CDs apparently have a limited life and may fail after a few years
- apparently depends on the quality of the media and the recorder device
that was used.

Subject: Opening old CD files in XP

I was just going through some of my old backup files on CD. Some of
them opened for me just fine; on others, XP gave me a "blank disc"
readout. The files were originally created in Win 95 and Win 98. I
know the files are _there_ -- so why won't they open? And what do I
need to do in order to open them? I need to copy some of that stuff for
new activities and a new website. Many thanks!
