Epson GT-10000+ Scanner shutting down

I have an Epson GT-10000+ Scanner with ADF. I can turn the power on the
scanner; however, when I connect the SCSI cable to the computer, it will
automatically turn off.

Here is what I have done so far:

1.      set the dial for the SCSI port( on back of scanner) to each setting

2.      powered down the PC, then connected the cable to the system( scanner
will not power up). I unplug from the system and the scanner will power up.


It appears to be a problem with the scanner. Has anyone experienced
something like this before?
