Same thing here I have a Deskjet 710C But I had to install the software on
the networked machine and then go to properties and capture printer port for
it to start working. Also I found that it would freeze printing graphics
form the networked computer and to solve that HP recomends disabling DOS
printing and it works fine now.

One other thing HP recommends not letting the computer "new hardware found"
installing drvers screen install the software. Use the CD that came with the
printer.
