If you go back and read my post you will see that I wrote NT had loaded the
controller for the SB but could not see the actual device. You can see what
controllers are installed in NT by going to Control Panel / SCSI device. A
controller on a SB16 is a standard IDE controller using a normal NT IDE
driver....nothing proprietary here. It is however a slow controller and it
may not work with a high end mode 4 drive.  After installing Service Pack
6a the device...CD ROM appeared and now all is well.
