Go into Control Panel/Network.  Under Configuration, find the line with
TCP/IP and the name of your NIC.  Select Properties, click on Specify IP
Address.  Then enter "dummy" numbers ie. 192.68.0.1 and 255.255.255.0

This should make your system boot normally without affecting the operation
of your system.
