I have used Direct Cable connection in the past and it is fairly simple to
use. You need to have either a Serial or Parallel cable to connect the 2
machines (needs to have the proper connectors on both ends, available at
many computer stores). The online help section of Windows9X outlines
complete instructions on how to set up and use. In a nutshell, you must
have File and Printer sharing enabled in each PC, then "Share the resources"
you actually want to transfer. I believe it also requires IPX to be
installed within each machines Network Properties. One machine is setup as
the host, and the other as the remote PC. You tell each PC to connect and
then use familiar Windows drag and drop to move files between the 2 PC's. I
recommend using a Parallel cable to transfer large files, because the
transfer rate is much faster than a Serial connection.
