HP JetDirect boxes are a pretty inexpensive solution.  They work with any
printer with a Parallel Port and become a node on your network. (They don't
hang off a workstation like a shared printer would.)  They work fine either
with a Network OS (Netware, NT), or through Microsoft Networking (Network
Neighborhood)  I have hooked up dozens of them with very few problems.
