Well unless you need to access the data because the disk manager software
failed. The only time I would use a disk manager is when I had absolutely
no choice. I have done data recovery on disks that have had a disk manager
on them and had a small glitch that turned into a major disaster because
the end user didn't understand what a disk manager is and how it works. I
am of the opinion why let software do what hardware can do. Get rid of the
middle man! you can always take a hard drive to another PC if the
controller card fails. Its rather difficult to make a drive function with a
broken drive overlay it can be don but its not a simple thing to do.
