Just a quick note:  the K-6 300 requires a core voltage of 2.2, from
everything I have read, while the K-6 233 uses 3.2...  I would suggest
resetting the core voltage.

I'm not sure that the bios chip recognition is important (i.e. in that
whatever it "names" your chip, that naming does not effect anything).
However, with that said, a bios update will sometimes allow you to utilize
other jumpers on the board to meet the needs of some of the newer hardware.

Lastly:  what program is telling you about your RAM write speed?
