My computer doesn't make any noise when I turn the rear power switch on
(the one on the power supply, not the case switch.)  However, my daughter's
computer does make a brief sound.  In my case this is "normal" though.
When the cases are opened, you can see that my daughter's computer cycles
the fans.  Mine does not.  So, that's the noise I hear.
