It is most likely a virtual cd/dvd rom drive added by a cd burning software
you have installed.

From: "D Bloomquist" <[log in to unmask]>, on 10/06/2003 11:08 AM:

I've got a P4 2.4 WinXP PC loaded up with various hardware - three hard
drives, a CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, ZIP drive, and CF reader. These are
assigned drive letters A - L by Windows. Mysteriously, windows has
assigned a drive "M" which I can't figure out what it is. When I
"click" on it, it says "please insert disk into drive M. Disk
Management doesn't see it. Clicking on properties doesn't help either.
I've got most everything unplugged from the unit except the ZIP drive
and CF reader.

Any ideas on how to solve this mystery?
