I have had flakey hard drives that caused very slow boots. I would swap
the two hard drives (changing master/slave configurations if they are
IDE drives) and reload the operating system from the master disks (that
you have to make, perhaps). If you have not made master disks yet, I
urge you to do so while you still can. If this cures the problem, then
you'll know the cause. If not, good luck!! :(

I have a year-old 9260 (not a mistype) which **seems** very slow to
boot, but not three minutes. Probably between one and two - longer than
my desktops.

Subject: [PCBUILD] HP laptop problem

I have a HP Pavilion dv9620us laptop with came with 2 separate
harddrives running Vista Premium with 2 gb ram. My question is why does
it take almost 3 minutes to boot to the desktop after the welcome screen
comes on? After the welcome screen comes the desktop turns black until
it opens up to the desktop and you can see the harddrive is still
working. I have contacted HP and their solution is to re-install
windows. I have a problem with that as the first one I purchased and
had to return for a different reason did the same thing so I really
don't think doing a complete recoverey is the answer. I have installed
all the updates from the HP webiste including updating the bios. It
didn't make any difference. Maybe one of you own this same computer and
can give me some insite on this problem. Would appreciate any
suggestions on how to fix this problem. Thank you. Barbara
