The shop/dealer from which I bought my computer gave a
     warranty of only one
year on all parts of my computer. Does the seagate company
     give a warranty
of more than that ? If I contacted them would they listen ?
     How can I
contact them ? I live in pakistan and I dont think they have
     an office here.

Seagate has a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. Which means that if it
breaks within three years *of its manufacture* (note: not within three
years *of your purchase*) they will replace it. Check on the drive for
the date of manufacture. Since it's a 1.2GB, I bet it's kinda old -- I
don't think they've made 1.2GB drives for a while. I dunno, though.

You can find out how to get it replaced at http://www.seagate.com. If
you don't have web access, lemme know and I'll see what I can do.

HIH,
