I have a desktop PC based on the AMD 64 processor running at up to 2.4 mhz (2.0) 3000+ with .5 gb memory and about 720gb disk. This is the second time I have had to format and reload XP Pro Sp2 due to the same virus.None of the programs could find it. It snuck in past Mcafee.
I did find the cpu fan not working so replaced that and ordered 2gb of memory at the same time.. Memory did not fit. I had to remove, reload software, and replace wireless boad
After the reload I had no sound. Checked all the normal stuff and it was ok, Device manager showed some abnormality so I deleted and reloaded all associated drivers.
Since I had opened the case I carefully checked to see if I had disturbed a jumper or connector but did not find anything.
Right now I am seriously considering just going out and buying a new computer but thought I would give you a try.
I think somehow sound is turned off but I can't find the switch.
Thanks
