Your friend needs a floppy boot disk -- definitely one containing the
command interpreter of the operating system she is now using.   If she can
get one, she will need to run Sys.com c: from the floppy.  If the floppy
doesn't contain the sys.com command, then sys.com may be copied from
c:\windows\command\ to the floppy once booted.

The sys.com command will put the system files back in their place.

One word of caution; however, is that many times when there is a command
interpreter missing or corrupt, there is a boot sector virus on the machine
that did the damage.  If this is the case, you will need to repost to the
list if you are unsure of what to do next.

Subject: [PCBUILD] command.com error message


A friend called me to ask for advice as her computer isn't booting.  She
gets the error message "...Command.com file is missing or corrupted..." ,
but I'm not knowlegable enough help out.  Can someone offer some
suggestions?  Thank you.
