Greetings--

This motherboard can be adjusted for 3 different FSB (front side bus speeds). One means of doing so involves adjusting the memory voltage. If you consult your motherboard manual, you may find other settings that will affect the cache memory speed. I suspect that, if all BIOS settings are set to match on these boards, they will probably yield the same speed ratings.

Subject: [PCBUILD] L1 cache speed differ on other mainboard

Hi!

I note a strange thing and would like to understand what's happening here.

I have 2 identical mainboard, an Asus P4P800-VM. I have tested the 2 with
the same processor (P4 3.2 Ghz/512/800 FSB) and the same memory. (I have put
the processor and memory from one board and then put on the other) but
memtest tell me the following info :

On 1st board :

L1 Cache -   8 K  - 26164 MB/s
L2 Cache - 512 K - 22322 MB/s

On 2nd board :

L1 Cache -   8 K  - 22322 MB/s
L2 Cache - 512 K - 22322 MB/s

The 2nd board has 15% less then the first.
Do I have to conclude that there a probleme with last one?

Thanks

Vital
