Hi Robert,
I did a bit of checking around after your post and found that it's
apparently neccessary to use a thing called a USB 'Bridge' cable, to connect
two pc's via USB for data transfer.  I understand this special cable has a
gizmo in it's centre that controls the flow of data.  It must somehow
control the power component of the two USB sources also, as each USB output
contains live juice (is 5v or 12V? - never been sure)

Also there was something I read about an 'A to A' USB cable being
'illegal' - which makes sense, as I guess it would enable one to connect two
'live' outputs together, not only damaging one or both computers, but also
posing a fire risk in case of electrical shorts.

I'm curious as to how your setup works. Perhaps you'd elaborate?
