  As the discussion on the refilling is thriving on the list,
I decided to translate to English the following article published
recently on one of the russian newsgroups. Please excuse my
English errors...

  "Recently, somebody asked me about Epson-Photo refills, and as
I have some experience in it, I'd like to share. Indeed, you can't
refill with any ink: my print head survived one refill but stopped
printing soon after, but I can't pay for either new cartridges or
replacement, so I decided to experiment some. First of all I had
to clean the head. The company // the author doesn't mention which
company -- could be Epson, could be his printer dealer - M.T. // said
it costs a lot and requires a specialized equipment, and replacing
a print head involves complete disassembling of the printer.
  But the technician friend of mine said it's all lies, so I decided
to do the thing myself. The head is hold on its place with one screw,
and disassembling takes 5 minutes, coffee break included. // the

  ... then I took some distilled water and ran it through the
cartridge under pressure, in two directions [inside-out and reverse]
and here it is! The head became clean and prints great! The problem
was that the bits of other ink are too big and doesn't fit in Epson's
