Are you running a 75 MHz Bus  and the 6.0 multiplier to get you 450 MHz.  If
so you have the latest drivers in your AGP video card?

Have you enabled DMA for the IDE controller for this DVD drive?

Is this drive on the secondary IDE master?

There is also some issue I remember with power management in the BIOS?
