Your system must be about 6 years old, you will not be able to get any
performance increase just by switching video with such an old processor. On
the specs for the game, does it specify a Pentium II? You did not say what
motherboard you have or operating system. Being that it supports UDMA 66
and PC133 memory, it must be a couple of years newer than when the K6-2 came
out (I might be wrong on this) and probably what is called a Socket Super 7.
I would go for a newer machine with one of the newer 7200rpm hard drives.
If you are using Windows 98, you are close to hitting the limit of memory it
can process, I would also go to Win 2K or XP.

Subject: Video Cards

How dependant is processor speed for video card function? I have an
AMD K6-2+ running at 550Mhz and went from an NVidia Riva 16MB PCI card to an
ATI Radeon 7500 64Mb PCI card with no increase in framerate or performance
running Dungeon Siege. According to the specs needed for the game, I meet
the
minimum requirements for processor speed (333Mhz). Is the card just a
non-performer? I thought it would have been at least a step up. It's not
life
ending, but it would be nice to know if the card is worth transferring to a
newer system, eventually. The HDD is a 30GB Maxtor 5400RPM (UDMA66) and I
have 64+256Mb of PC133 memory. Thanks all.
