I use WinFaxPro 8 and have used this program since ver 4.

WinFax can be set  as a Fax Machine only or as an Answering
Machine / Fax Machine.  If it's set up as the latter, then it will play
the voice message and listen for fax tones.  When it hears fax
tones, it switches over to fax mode.

I haven't run into a problem where it will receive only so many faxes
unless there is a shortage of disk space.

Another possibility may be some other program interfering with the
comm port that WinFax is tied to and thereby disabling WinFaxes
ability to properly answer the phone.

Check all your settings in Winfax, especially the ones under TalkWorks
Setup.
