Eeek!  I hate this problem.  We had the same issue where I used to work.  A
bank of monitors was right next to a wall that housed a major power conduit.
This is definitely the problem.  There are ways to shield it, but the
materials and expertise to do it probably cost more than your computer.  My
gut feeling is it probably will lower the life-span of the monitor, but most
monitors usually outlive their usefulness anyway, so I wouldn't be too
worried about that.

Joseph's suggestion might help, but I'm not sure there's much else you can
do other than re-arranging the furniture.
