Speaking of power... my father just discovered that the house had been
getting 131/262V for years.  If you are on a feeder line, either
remarkably close or rather far from the transmision line.. your voltage
may be off spec.  He had a NEC 17 in  displaying similar behavior which
since the replacement of the transformer for the house, has been running
symptom free.  Grab yourself a digital multimeter and have at it.
