What do you mean by "cost effective?" What do you mean by "upgrade?"

Certainly for much less than buying a new computer you can put in a
new AT motherboard, cpu, and memory. How much you spend will depend on
how fancy an upgrade you make. You will have to decide for yourself. Go to
www.pricewatch.com for typical pricing information.

How much is the experience to you and your son worth?

How much is the father/son togetherness worth?

How much is the sense of accomplishment worth?

(Beginning to sound like a MC commercial, eh?)

Look on the PCBUILD website for information on installing an
motherboard.
