OK, was that a WAG or based on experience?

Actually, it never occurred to me to remove the battery or that the computer would even run without it. But after removing every cover on the back of the computer, I figured out that the battery just slides out. And I found out that I don't have the problem with the battery out. Started the computer a half dozen times without issue. Put the battery back in and the problem returned. Took it out, and things are fine. So thanks for the suggestion!

Now, for replacement batteries. I know I am being cheap but I hate to spend a lot of money on this thing. It is pretty old, after all. An OEM runs $60+. Anybody have suggestions for where I can get a safe, reliable one that can hopefully last me a year or two?

Have you tried running it with the battery removed?
